Das Kooperationsprojekt zwischen dem Goethe-Institut Bangalore und dem Verein Prospektiv, der das Experimance Festival ausrichtet, bietet dem indischen Künstler Amith Venkatamaraiah die Möglichkeit eines mehrwöchigen Aufenthaltes in Saarbrücken.
The cooperation project between the Goethe-Institut Bangalore and the Verein Prospektiv, which organizes the Experimance Festival, offers the Indian artist Amith Venkatamaraiah the opportunity to spend several weeks in Saarbrücken.
Venkatamaraiah, der als Multimedia-Künstler Bild und Ton zu einzigartigen, eindringlichen Erfahrungswelten verbindet, wird ab dem 26.05. vor Ort eine Arbeit für das Festival entwickeln.
Venkatamaraiah, who as a multimedia artist combines image and sound to create unique, immersive worlds of experience, will develop a work for the festival on site from May 26.
Ziel des Residenzprogramms ist es, einen langfristigen künstlerischen Austausch in einem nachhaltigen Format zu etablieren, das den kreativen Austausch durch eine neuartige Praxis der Zusammenarbeit intensiviert. Dabei bekommen indische KünstlerInnen die Chance, für den Zeitraum der Residenz in Deutschland zu leben und zu arbeiten und Zugang zur Kunstpraxis des Hosts zu erhalten, um dadurch die lokale Kultur zu bereichern sowie ihre eigene Kreativität und Innovativität zu fördern.
Die bangaloREsidency-Expanded wurde 2017 vom Goethe-Institut und deren Partnern konzipiert, um die Reichweite und Nachhaltigkeit des Residenzprojekts bangaloREsidency weiter zu intensivieren. Sie wurde als eine logische Fortsetzung unseres Vorzeigeprogramms bangaloREsidency konzipiert, das Kunstschaffende aus Deutschland nach Indien bringt, um mit unseren lokalen indischen Kulturpartnern oder Gastgebern zu arbeiten und sich auszutauschen. Während ausgedehnter Feedback-Sitzungen und Diskussionen mit Gastgebern und bangaloREsidenten wurde die Notwendigkeit verspürt, den künstlerischen Verkehr in die entgegengesetzte Richtung zu fördern und zu unterstützen. Aufstrebende indische Künstler werden immens vom Kontakt mit anderen Kulturen/künstlerischen Arenen profitieren.

The aim of the residency program is to establish a long-term artistic exchange in a sustainable format that intensifies creative exchange through a novel practice of collaboration. In doing so, Indian artists are given the opportunity to live and work in Germany for the duration of the residency and gain access to the host’s art practice, thereby enriching local culture as well as fostering their own creativity and innovativeness.
The bangaloREsidency-Expanded was conceived in 2017 by the Goethe-Institut and their partners to further intensify the reach and sustainability of the bangaloREsidency residency project. It was conceived as a logical extension of our flagship bangaloREsidency program, which brings arts professionals from Germany to India to work and exchange with our local Indian cultural partners or hosts. During extended feedback sessions and discussions with hosts and bangaloREsidents, the need was felt to encourage and support artistic traffic in the opposite direction. Emerging Indian artists will benefit immensely from exposure to other cultures/artistic arenas.
